Our first steps among the trees felt like an open-air lesson. We learned to tell a fir from a spruce, found out what conifers and broadleaf trees are, and discovered that every tree carries its age written in its trunk.
Then the forest opened its doors to us through three workshops. In “The Forest’s Little Heroes – The Secret World of Insects” we met the small but so important creatures of Băneasa Forest. In “Tree Detectives – Who Lives in the Forest?” we became real tree explorers, and the wood collection showed us how different the types of wood and their textures can be. In “Tracks, Feathers and Stories – Who Is Hiding in the Forest?” we learned more about the animals and birds that make their home here.
Between workshops, developmental games brought plenty of play, good cheer and teamwork.
Then came the most beautiful moment of the day: every Little Wolf planted their very own oak tree. Today they are just tiny saplings, but in time they will grow tall and strong, a living reminder of the good deed we did together.
It was a day of learning through play, of seeing the forest with new eyes, and of leaving behind something good for the place we call home.
